Beauty Therapy Accreditation (BTA)

Last Updated: 9 October 2026

1. Terms and Conditions

Beauty Therapy Accreditation (BTA) provides independent accreditation services for beauty therapy courses and training providers.

By applying for accreditation, applicants agree to comply with BTA’s published accreditation standards, application requirements and applicable terms.

Applicants must provide accurate, authentic and complete information throughout the accreditation process.

BTA reserves the right to refuse applications that fail to meet its accreditation requirements.

2. Accreditation Policy

BTA evaluates beauty therapy training programmes against its accreditation standards.

Assessment may include:

  • Tutor qualifications and professional experience.
  • Course manuals and teaching materials.
  • Lesson plans and learning outcomes.
  • Theory and practical assessments.
  • Training delivery arrangements.
  • Insurance documentation.
  • Health, safety and safeguarding arrangements.

Accreditation is awarded only where the applicable requirements have been met.

Accredited providers remain responsible for the delivery, safety, quality and assessment of their training.

BTA accreditation does not constitute Ofqual recognition or a government-regulated qualification.

3. Strict No Refund Policy

All accreditation application, course assessment and renewal fees paid to BTA are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by applicable law.

By making payment, applicants acknowledge that:

  • Accreditation fees cover the application, evaluation and administration of accreditation services.
  • Payment does not guarantee accreditation approval.
  • Unsuccessful applications do not qualify for a refund.
  • Applicants who change their minds or withdraw their applications are not entitled to a refund solely on those grounds.
  • Applications that fail to meet BTA standards do not qualify for a refund solely because accreditation is refused.
  • Fees cannot be transferred to another training provider or course without BTA’s written approval.

Applicants should review all accreditation requirements before submitting an application and making payment.

Nothing in this policy excludes any statutory rights or legal remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

4. Confidentiality and Intellectual Property

Training providers retain ownership of their original training manuals, lesson plans, course content and assessment materials.

By submitting documents for accreditation, applicants authorise BTA to review, assess and retain relevant materials for accreditation administration and recordkeeping.

BTA will treat submitted business and training information confidentially, subject to lawful disclosure obligations.

BTA’s accreditation logo, branding, original assessment documents and certificates remain its intellectual property.

5. Certificate and Logo Usage

Accredited training providers may use BTA certificates and logos only with authorisation and in accordance with BTA’s requirements.

Providers must not:

  • Use BTA logos for unaccredited courses.
  • Alter or falsify accreditation certificates.
  • Make misleading accreditation claims.
  • Claim approval by insurers or regulatory bodies without confirmation.
  • Continue displaying valid accreditation status after accreditation expires or is withdrawn.

BTA may require immediate correction or removal of misleading or unauthorised claims.

6. Suspension and Withdrawal of Accreditation

BTA may suspend or withdraw accreditation where there is evidence of:

  • Fraud or misleading documentation.
  • Failure to maintain accreditation standards.
  • Misuse of accreditation branding.
  • Serious safeguarding or safety concerns.
  • Material breaches of accreditation terms.

Where practicable, BTA will inform the provider of the concerns and allow an opportunity to respond.

Immediate temporary suspension may be necessary where serious risks are identified.

Suspension or withdrawal does not automatically entitle an applicant to a refund, subject to applicable legal rights.

7. Complaints and Appeals

BTA aims to handle complaints fairly and professionally.

Complaints and appeals must be submitted in writing to [INSERT: BTA email address].

We aim to acknowledge complaints within five working days and provide a written response within 20 working days.

Where further investigation is required, the complainant will receive an update.

Applicants may appeal accreditation decisions by providing relevant supporting information.

Appeals will be considered fairly and, wherever practicable, by someone who was not involved in the original decision.

8. Equality and Diversity

BTA is committed to equality, fairness, diversity and inclusion.

We do not tolerate unlawful discrimination, harassment or victimisation.

Accreditation decisions are based on applicable training and professional standards in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

9. Safeguarding

BTA supports safe training environments for all learners, including children and adults at risk.

Accredited training providers are responsible for maintaining suitable safeguarding arrangements, supervision and reporting procedures.

Safeguarding concerns reported to BTA will be assessed and referred to the appropriate authority where legally required.

Serious concerns may result in an accreditation review or suspension.

10. Insurance Disclaimer

BTA is an independent accreditation organisation and not an insurance provider.

Accreditation does not automatically guarantee insurance eligibility, professional registration, licensing or employment.

Insurance providers independently determine eligibility, coverage, premiums, exclusions and policy conditions.

BTA does not provide regulated insurance advice or arrange insurance unless appropriately authorised or exempt under UK law.

11. Website Content and Liability

Information on the BTA website is provided for general information about our services.

BTA aims to maintain accurate information but does not guarantee that website content will always be free from errors or interruptions.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

12. Changes to Policies

BTA may update its policies, accreditation standards and website information.

Changes will be published on our website with the relevant revision date.

Changes affecting existing agreements will be handled in accordance with applicable contractual and legal requirements.
